You have been recommended by your counselor to apply for the Wisdom Foundation Scholarship. It is our goal to provide scholarship funding for higher education expenses for students of U‐46 and Spooner Area school district. We want to provide incentive to students who have overcome difficult circumstances and challenges and help with their commitment to learning.
Eligibility:
· Student has been recommended by their school counselor or other administrator.
· Student is in their Senior Year at any of the U‐46 High Schools (IL) or Spooner Area District (WI).
· Student must have achieved a minimum ACT score of 18.
· Student has applied to at least 1 higher education institution.
· Student has a FAFSA expected family contribution (EFC) of 8000 or less.
Submission Criteria:
1. Cover application to include the following:
a. Student Name
b. Student ID#
c. Mailing address, phone number, and email
d. Documentation of ACT score
e. Documentation of FAFSA score
f. A listing of colleges or universities that the student has applied at or been accepted to for attendance.
2. One letter of recommendation from an individual with direct knowledge of the student’s abilities, accomplishments, and potential.
3. Written Essay explaining any personal challenges that have shaped you or how you have overcome a difficult challenge in your life with a minimum of 350 words not to exceed 500 words.
Scholarships Awarded:
Each award winner will receive $1500 to be used for higher education expenses. The number of student selected varies from year to year and is based on the discretion of the board of directors of Wisdom Family Foundation. The awards are presented at the Senior Recognition Ceremony at each U‐46 High School and Spooner Area High School.
Selection Process:
Packets must be submitted to [email protected] April 3rd 2020 for review. Selection and announcement will be made by May 1. Award selection is based on a review of the board of directors of Wisdom Family Foundation.
Submitted applications and essays become the property of Wisdom Family Foundation and will not be returned. Please retain a copy for your own records. Applicants could be contacted and asked to be interviewed as part of the selection process. Applicants will be notified by mail if they have been awarded the scholarship.
