Wisdom Family Foundation is a lead donor and key partner of the I CAN Foundation. I CAN is making waves throughout Central America and the Caribbean. Its programs empower young adults to develop ambition, confidence and know-how to achieve any future they can imagine.
I CAN Sail: Young adults in the foster care system (ages 18-22) spend 80 days in the Caribbean on our 100 ft. sailing boat, Sailing Yacht Wisdom. The captain and crew teach youth how to navigate life by navigating the sea, and expert mentors join throughout the voyage to enlighten youth about various careers and fields of study, including oceanography, meteorology, filmmaking and more. Participants graduate with numerous sea survival and safety certifications, including a scuba certificate and captain’s license.
I CAN Play: Robin’s Tents is a series of pop-up events hosted in countries throughout the Caribbean where kids and families come together for an afternoon of fresh food, sports and music. Every Saturday we serve a hot meal to 100-200 individuals, which for some is their only hot meal of the week.
I CAN Learn: Each week we host over 100 children at Rancho Los Compaires in Costa Rica for a day of soccer, swimming, sewing and English-language lessons, as well as a hot Costa Rican lunch. The program is supported by local volunteers.
